Steffan - great list. I also use getwordpressed.com by Scott Hendison. Taught me a great deal about using WordPress as a CMS for websites - and I do that successfully now.

Hi Steffan,

First - thanks for the post. I'll consider this my WP resource page from now on.

Second - I hate to admit to being such a nube, but I can't seem to find this answer anywhere else. My posts display on my home page but in order to leave a comment, you have to click the post title, which then takes you to the “post” with the “add a comment” feature at the bottom. How do I set up so that when I post, the “add a comment” section shows on the bottom of the post on my main page? It seems like everywhere else I stumble to, this is the case.

Thanks for your help with this. I appreciate any words of wisdom or links you could provide.

George,

Thanks for the kind words.

The “problem” you're having, isn't actually a problem at all. It's just the
WP theme you're using is coded that way - it's designed so that people use
the comment count link at the top. Don't worry. Bloggers are savvy. If they
want to comment, they'll find the link. If you really want people to always
see it, I suggest using the “more” function when you're typing posts. Insert
it somewhere after the first paragraph of your post so that people who want
to keep reading have to click through to the post. Having excerpts on your
front page is good practice. It makes your content scannable, and it has SEO
benefits. Good luck.
