Google Search Is Getting More Social

You knew this was coming. Google about to start surfacing public web content from your friends and online contacts.

    Three words – Cool, Powerful, Scary. Many people think their personal data is stored in social media silos like Facebook and Twitter, but the power of indexing is exposing more data each day, and the direction that Google is heading in will allow all that data to be cross referenced…fascinating!

    This assumes (1) your friends always identify themselves the same way and (2) you think your friends know a heck of a lot about what you're researching. Ain't necessarily so. We all are members of various tribes, depending on the particular drum we're beating.

      Yep. Google's going to have to pull together a tremendous amount of
      information and clear some substantial hurdles to pull this off well. It
      probably won't be close to perfect for years, but the important thing is
      seeing the trajectory and intent here with this implementation. Something to
      watch.
