Shifting To A “People Driven” Economy

by Steffan Antonas on January 13, 2010

Erik Qualman has produced a few good videos like this in tandem with the release of his book Socialnomics. This one focuses on interesting facts and figures that show how human behavior on the web is shifting (which is the whole point, right?). I particularly appreciated (A.) the insight that: “Successful companies in social media act more like planners, aggregators and content providers than traditional advertising companies,” and (B.) the fact that Erik quoted himself in the video. Brassy move, Erik. :)

I'd be interested to read your comments on this: http://www.transcapitalist.com/transcapitalist/...

    It's a company that's using social media instead of a hand-written note.
  • Kurt,

I've commented on the post. I'm happy to keep the discussion going on over
there. Thanks for sending the link over. Very interesting.
  • Brilliant video, although there is so much information to absorb that it requires seeing a second (or third) time. And yet, I come away with the feeling that "social media" is simply a new (multi-lane, high-speed) conduit for us humans to connect, interact and communicate. That's not to devalue the platform, but to say that all these services (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs) do nothing for us, yet allow us the freedom and flexibility to do what comes natural, though at a much faster pace.
  • Wow, they are some big numbers! And I bet a lot of them have grown since the video was done last year.
